Dermal Filler

What is dermal filler?

Filler is made of Hyaluronic Acid. A water loving molecule that binds up to 400x its weight in water. It works like a sponge and fills up with water upon injection filling out fine lines/wrinkles and plumping lips. Young skin is moisturized with this hyaluronic acid and naturally occurring sugar. It keeps our skin hydrated via absorption of the water. As we age, this volume of hyaluronic acid decreases and fine lines begin to appear that will eventually turn into wrinkles. In the lips, this causes thinning, loss of fullness, volume and definition. We can also develop vertical or marionette lines around the mouth that cause your mouth to droop, giving you an unhappy appearance. Nasolabial folds can also become deeper due to ageing along with other factors such as sun exposure, lifestyle, muscle imbalances and so on.

I've previously had a different filler brand, can i mix them?

You can mix filler brands as long as it has been 3 months in between.

How long does the filler last?

Every individual is different. What may give an immediate result on one client may take two or three
sessions to achieve on another. Likewise, what may last 1 year on one client may last less than 12
weeks on another. This is due to several factors including lifestyle, skin type, metabolism etc. Filler
does however take time to build up, regardless of how natural you want it. Please be patient and
expect to visit frequently for top ups over the first year to build a base. This will help ensure your treatment area lasts longer and once that base is in place – should need less maintenance in the future.

Can filler be removed?

In most cases filler can be dissolved and reversed by hyaluronidase. This is administered via small injections to break the product down. A patch test is required 48 hours before.

I’m nervous! Do fillers hurt?

There may be a slight discomfort whilst the filler is being injected, however we minimise this by
applying an anaesthetic cream before treatment. To provide further relief and alleviate as much pain as possible, our fillers contain a pre-mixed local anaesthetic.

Whats the difference between botox and fillers?

There is 100% a difference between Botox and fillers! Botox stops the small muscles in your face
from making the movements that cause wrinkles, while dermal fillers plump from below the
wrinkles to smooth them out and promote the youthful look. As well as plumping and defining areas. How do I book HM signature lips and Russian technique? Please book lip filler by the ml (as usual) and our aesthetic practitioner will discuss technique with you during your consultation.

How long do I have to wait after getting fillers, to go to the gym, sunbathe/sunbed and fly?

We always advise to wait 48 hours before doing any of the above to allow any swelling to go down without irritation – specifically in regards to sunbeds and sunbathing because UV rays and natural sunlight can cause damage to the structure of the skin.

If I get a lip filler treatment, how long after can I get SPMU lip blush?

We say to wait 2-3 weeks post-lip filler before you get lip blush as this is essentially a lip tattoo and we want to ensure all swelling and sensitivity from the filler is settled.
